Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin

Tonight's beer: Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin

Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin

Molasses-dark sweetness, heavily threaded with baking spice (cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon). Bread and toast and pumpkins through the middle. Earthy bitterness emerges by the end, as the beer struggles (with a little success) to dry out.

A little thicker than medium-bodied, dense and softly chewy, nicely carbonated. Some lingering stickiness. Eventually, vaguely drying; roughly no alcohol presence, given the 8% ABV.

A very tasty—very spicy—pumpkin beer, not quite the total boozy pumpkin pie experience—more like a cookie, thanks to all that cardamom. Intense and astonishingly complex, nicely integrated if a bit of a spice-bomb. Plenty drinkable, with the alcohol very well-hidden. Remarkably graceful and supple and drinkable. Definitely a returning favorite in the style.
