Tonight's beer: Cigar City Jai Alai

Cigar City Jai Alai

Opens with a stiff blast of bitterness: flowers and pine and grapefruit, background impressions of other citrus (lime and citrus) and grass. Bready sweetness lurks in the background, caramel and maybe toast around the edges. Wraps up bitterly dry (or maybe dryly bitter).

Medium-bodied, decently carbonated. A fair amount of resinous-syrupy stickiness, just a bit chewy around the middle. Gradually drying and cleansing, eventually remarkably refreshing.

One of the best year-round IPAs I've had, and now it's just a bit easier for me to find. Searingly intense and very complex, nicely integrated but very hoppy-bitter-lopsided. Drinkable as hell. It's easy to see this going with bright and spicy foods. I'm happy to be able to get it more regularly.
