Tonight's beer: Heavy Seas Loose Cannon
Opens with a slash of bitterness—citrus (mainly grapefruit with some lime and orange woven in), pine, flowers, possibilities of grass. Bready sweetness through the middle, with hints of caramel and maybe toast around the edges. Dries out sharply and completely.
Medium-bodied and nicely carbonated. Some stickiness, but quickly clean and cleansing, powerfully drying and awesomely refreshing.
A wonderfully drinkable biggish IPA. Plenty bitter but remarkably balanced for eh style; wonderfully well-integrated, bracingly intense, impressively complex. One of my go-to beers, from a brewery that is (and always has been) proudly local.
