Tonight's beer: Heavy Seas (Uncharted Waters) Siren Noire (2015)
Deep rich dark chocolate up front; coffee and caramel and vanilla woven in. Dark bread back a bit, mostly structure, with toast around the edges. Distant hints of earth and peat. Bittersweet from the start; gradually dries out, at least a bit.
Thick and dense, slick and smooth, lingering syrupy stickiness. Chewy and a bit soft. Eventually gently drying. Roughly no alcohol presence, given the 9.5% ABV.
Yum! A bit stout that's impressively graceful and subtle. Intense as hell and impressively complex; wonderfully well-balanced (given the style) and well-integrated. Astonishingly drinkable. Supple and deceptively subdued booziness. Heavy Seas continue to do excellent work.
