Ommegang Grains of Truth

Tonight's beer: Ommegang Grains of Truth

Ommegang Grains of Truth

Earthy-grassy bitterness opens, melds into caramel and toast and bread. Dried fruit—pears and apples and white grapes—sprinkled with pepper; hints of baking spice (mostly nutmeg and cloves) in the distance. Transitions swiftly and smoothly to pleasantly dry.

Medium-bodied, lots of carbonation. Chewy and a bit sticky, wraps up pretty clean. Eventually cleansing, drying, impressively refreshing.

A delicious, delicious beer; perfect for the more typical Thanksgiving meal (which we won't be having, but that's kinda irrelevant here). Intense and complex—especially given the relatively mild 5.8% ABV, wonderfully well-balanced and integrated. Drinkable as hell.. I don't know why Ommegang changed the name, but I'm glad they didn't change the beer.
