Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Pumking
Bready-caramel sweetness opens, thickly laced with pumpkins and vanilla and baking spices (cloves, allspice, cinnamon, ginger). Flecks of toast around the edges. Earthy-grassy-peaty bitterness struggles forward around the end, alongside threads of maple and molasses. Pretty sweet start to finish; dries out just a little.
A little thicker than medium-bodied, bready-chewy and syrupy-sticky, carbonation decent if maybe a little sparse. Gently drying, eventually a little refreshing. Roughly zero warning of the 8.6% ABV.
Definitely a dessert beer, but an excellent one. Big and toasty-sweet, darkly spiced. Kinda sticky, nicely integrated. Remarkably drinkable. One of my favorite pumpkin beers. Utterly delicious, as always.
