21st Amendment Fireside Chat

Dark bread and caramel to open, streaks of toast and coffee. Dried dark emerges through the middle—plums, cherries, dates, figs—alongside a sprinkling of making spice and a slow crescendo of earthy-grassy-peaty bitterness. Toffee and maybe nuts in the interstices. Slides quickly to quite dry.

A bit on the thick and heavy side of medium-bodied, with lots of carbonation. Pretty smooth, a little chewy; eventually drying and impressively refreshing.

A tasty beer, imposingly intense and complex; wonderfully well-balanced and -integrated. Magnificently drinkable. Entirely its own thing, but clearly inspired by Anchor's Our Special Ale: variable year-to-year but consistently excellent. I'm happy to buy this beer every year.
