Tonight's beer: Boulevard Snow and Tell
Bready-caramel sweetness, edged with toast and wrapped around dried fruits—figs and dates, plums and raisins. Smoke and earthy-peaty-grassy bitterness emerge quickly, linger through the middle into a quick and kinda dry finish.
Just on the bready-thick side of medium-bodied, distinctly chewy with traces of syrupy stickiness. Round and smooth, highly carbonated. Eventually drying and refreshing.
Egad. To the surprise of (I imagine) roughly nobody, Boulevard nailed this. Intense as heck, given the relatively mild alcohol content, staggeringly complex; balanced and integrated and deliriously drinkable. Perfect for winter, even though the weather is more like mid-fall or maybe early spring.
