Tonight's beer: 21st Amendment Toaster Pastry
Starts out vividly bitter—lots of pine and a variety of citrus (orange and lime and grapefruit), some musk and flowers and grass—with caramel-lightly-toasted bready sweetness stepping rapidly to the fore as an able counterpoint. Darker hints (chocolate?) emerge toward the finish alongside berry like impressions. Wraps up gradually dry.
Medium-bodied, with lots of carbonation; a little chewy, with thick smears of resinous-syrupy stickiness. Slowly drying, eventually scrubbing. Finishes pretty refreshing.
There's a lot of beer in a 19.2-ounce can; it's a good thing when it's an awesome beer like this. Intense as hell and amazingly complex, nicely balanced and integrated. Drinkable as hell. I don't know about the strawberrry Pop-Tart thing, but this is a delicious beer—about what I'd expect from 21st Amendment.
