Boulevard Snow and Tell

Tonight's beer: Boulevard Snow and Tell

Boulevard Snow and Tell

Bready-toasty sweetness to open, laden with caramel; smoke and peat around the edges. Earthy-grassy bitterness in the background, threads of vanilla, nuts, toffee, dried fruits. Wraps up gradually dry.

Bready-chewy, a little thicker and denser than medium-bodied. A bit soft, some distinct syrupy stickiness. Eventually drying, gently cleansing, refreshing. Softly warming.

Definitely a delicious Scottish Ale, with the wood-aging character superbly well-integrated with the rest of the beer. Reasonably intense, given the style and the relatively mild booze content; nicely complex. Something a lot like balanced. Stupidly drinkable. Yeah, I'm an irrational fanboy, but this is seriously an excellent beer, perfect for helping cop with the aftereffects of a snowstorm (and delaying the onset of cabin fever).
