Tonight's beer: DC Brau On the Wings of Armageddon
Almost blisteringly bitter from the start: pithy grapefruity-lemony citrus, pine, flowers; ancillary threads of musk, grass, and tropical fruits. Soft bready sweetness wafts in the background, with dim flickers of caramel and toast. Rapidly transitions to dry and bitter into a long and gradual finish.
A little lighter than medium-bodied, pretty decently carbonated. Momentarily soft, then thick smeary layers of resinous stickiness that gradually slide to scrubbing and scouring and eventually drying.
Wheeeee! A giddily unbalanced wild ride through a cascade of hoppy flavors. Staggeringly intense and complex, surprisingly well put together for such a crazily bitter beer. Impressively drinkable, with effectively no warning of the 9.2% ABV. Definitely a beer to grab when it's available.
