Tonight's beer: 3 Stars Zombie Date Night
Opens with a load of tart-sweet raspberries; chocolate emerges right behind, darkly roasty-bittersweet. bread in the background, with threads of caramel and toast. Vague possibilities of smoke and peat and earth and grass. Struggles to dry out some by the finish.
Thick, bready-soft and chewy, syrupy-sticky. Some sparse and slightly-sluggish carbonation. A hit of pucker, evolving to sparsely dry. Roughly no hint of the 9.6% ABV.
A tasty big porter, laden with raspberries and spiked with chocolate. Other porterish flavors lurking. Intense as hell, maybe a bit unbalanced but holds together nicely. Remarkably drinkable, in a Big Sipping Beer kinda way. I see 3 Stars' stuff around from time to time, and I should probably make a point to grab more—what I've had has been at least good.
