Tonight's beer: Green Flash Pacific Gem
Opens with a big splash of bitterness: fruity and grassy and floral and musky; limes and oranges and other citrus, melons an other tropical fruits. Pale bread steps forward quickly, with spots of toast and wisps of caramel. Dries out sharply and pretty thoroughly, as bitterness lingers.
Somewhere on the light side of medium-bodied, decently carbonated. Scrubbing and cleansing, drying and immensely refreshing. Just a trace of resinous stickiness.
A pretty impressive American Pale Ale, a style I probably should drink ore of (it's kinda easy to take it for granted). Impressively intense and complex, given the 5.5 ABV; well-constructed, balanced, drinkable as hell. I've mostly had good experiences drinking Green Flash's beers, though mostly their bigger ones; it's good to have something this moderate and simple and excellent from them.
