Tonight's beer: Heavy Seas (Uncharted Waters) Great'er Pumpkin

Heavy Seas (Uncharted Waters) Great'er Pumpkin

Pumpkin on top of caramel and toast; ribbons of vanilla and baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves) layered in. Hints of earthy-grassy bitterness around the edges. Soft hints of something dark, almost roasty, as the beer shifts a bit toward dry.

Pretty thick, dense, a little heavy; carbonation kinda sparse but at least adequate. Chewy and pretty sticky, eventually gently drying. Just the softest boozy glow the only warning of the 10% ABV.

A big pumpkin beer, the added character from the Bourbon barrels superbly well-integrated into the rest of the beer. Impressively intense, amazingly complex; tips pretty far to the sweet side but holds together nicely. Graceful and subtle and remarkably supple. Surprisingly drinkable. I didn't set out to age this (it's been sitting around for about six months) but it would probably do nicely if treated well.
