Tonight's beer: Southern Tier 2XMAS
Bready-caramel sweetness to start, toast around the edges; fruit woven in (mostly notably citrus and fig, maybe dates). Woody spice teams up with earthy-grassy bitterness through the middle. Maple and molasses emerge and hang on into a slowly dryish finish.
Syrupy thick, very chewy and sticky; lots of carbonation. eventually somewhat drying and refreshing. Not much alcohol presence, given the 8% ABV. Softly scrubbing and cleansing.
A very tasty beer, distinctly Christamassy (even without the name on the label, probably). Richly spiced, intense and complex; superbly well-integrate and surprisingly close to balanced. Supple, supple, graceful, amazingly drinkable. Still a fan of Southern Tier, and of this beer.
