Tonight's beer: Evolution Lucky 7
Caramel and molasses smeared on toasted bread, maybe a thread or two of coffee and/or chocolate. Earthy-peaty-grassy bitterness emerges quickly, lingers into a pretty quick and dry finish. Possibilities of smoke and ash around the far edges.
Medium-bodied, maybe a bit thicker; kinda soft and chewy, just a touch of stickiness. Gradually drying, surprisingly refreshing; maybe some mineral flecks toward the end.
A very tasty porter, from a brewery I've heard lots of good things about (but which before now I don't think I've had in a circumstance I could pay this much attention). Tons of flavor, intense and complex; wonderfully well-integrated and -integrated. Drinkable as hell. I definitely should try more from these folks.
