Tonight's beer: Tröegs Nugget Nectar
Lots of bitterness to open: flowers and grass, ribbons of citrus (lime and grapefruit, mainly) and pine. Pulpy-fruity sweetness wrapped in bread and caramel fills in through the middle. Dries out quickly and smoothly.
Medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. Some bready chewiness and layers of resinous-syrupy stickiness. Rapidly drying, scouring and scrubbing, immensely refreshing.
One of my favorite beers, from a brewery I'm thankfully close enough to that finding it isn't any kind of a hardship. Intense as hell and amazingly complex, wonderfully well-balanced and integrated. Gloriously drinkable. An example of why I firmly believe amber ales and red IPAs (which are awfully close to being the same style) do a better job of showcasing hops flavors than paler styles. Delicious.
