Tonight's beer: Gigantic Massive!
Lots of caramel, hints of molasses and toast, maybe a thread or two of maple and/or vanilla. Grassy and floral bitterness emerges through the middle, flecked with pine and citrus and earth. Maybe a speck of dried fruits—figs and dates, mostly; some wispy dark spirits: whisky, brandy, rum. Dries out gradually.
A it on the thick and heavy side, distinctly smooth with slightly sparse carbonation. Some chewiness and syrupy stickiness, eventually somewhat drying. Boozy prickle, pretty subdued for 12% ABV.
Um, this is a big, big (big!) beer, but smoothly sippable and graceful and surprisingly supple. Intense as hell and stupefyingly complex, astonishingly well-balanced and -integrated. Scarily subtle for such a big beer; definitely a sipper. Very nice, indeed.
