Tonight's beer: Jailbreak Feed the Monkey
Starts off juicy-fruity-sweet: bananas layered with oranges, maybe other citrus and/or pale fruits. Bready sweetness in the background, touched with caramel. Pepper-grassy bitterness arises gradually around the finish, as the beer slides toward dry, with grace notes of tart.
Very light-bodied with lots of carbonation. pretty smooth, maybe a trace of chewiness and/or stickiness; implications of pucker. Wraps up quickly dry and impressively refreshing.
A remarkably convincing hefeweizen, if a bit of a cheat if one wants to be a purist about such things (the brewery make this with bananas and orange juice and orange peel). It's delicious, regardless, and from the most-local commercial brewery I know of. Intense and complex (given the lowish ABV), nicely integrated and pretty well-balanced.
