Tonight's beer: Sixpoint Hi-Res
Starts out almost searingly bitter: pine and musk and flowers, threads of citrus and grass. Pretty surprising amount of pale-bready sweetness fills in through the middle, with maybe a touch of caramel. Dries out gradually, eventually pretty thoroughly.
A bit on the thick side of medium-bodied, adequate carbonation. Thick slabs of resinous-syrupy stickiness. Gently and powerfully drying, surprisingly refreshing. No trace of the 10.5% ABV.
A delicious and devastatingly drinkable double IPA, one that I'm always happy to find in a store, and then of course buy. Intense as hell and giddily complex, surprisingly well-balanced and beautifully integrated. A bit of a wild ride, but eventually a wonderful glass of hop candy. Yum!
