Tonight's beer: Heavy Seas (Uncharted Waters) Yule Tide
Starts out markedly fruity: bananas, of course; plums and cherries and figs and dates in the mix. Bread and toast and caramel arise through the middle, edged with molasses, vanilla, and baking spices (cloves, ginger, allspice, nutmeg). Dries out quickly and completely into the finish.
Just a little lighter than medium-bodied, finely carbonated and very smooth. Not much hint of the 9% ABV. Gradually drying, eventually a lot like refreshing.
A delicious weizenbock, nicely spiced and richly complex from time spend in rum barrels. Intense as hell, in the ballpark of balanced, integrated, poised and graceful. Gloriously drinkable.
