Tonight's beer: 3 Stars Ghost
Starts out almost blisteringly bitter: flowers and grass, citrus and musky tropical fruits; pine around the edges. Spice in the background—mainly cardamom. Pale-bready sweetness emerges momentarily through the middle, then the beer dries out quickly and thoroughly as bitterness reasserts itself.
A little lighter than medium-bodied, lots of carbonation. A fair amount of resinous stickiness, eventually tends toward drying. Wraps up scrubbing and immensely refreshing.
An impressive White IPA—a style I hope isn't on its way to fading entirely away. Intense for days and astonishingly complex, nothing like balanced but poised and nicely integrated. Gloriously drinkable and perfect for summer. One neat thing about living equidistant between two major-ish cities is all the local-ish breweries. This is delicious from start to finish.
