Tonight's beer: Atlas District Common
Opens poised and bittersweet: earth and grass and peat braced against bread and caramel and toast. Interstitial impressions of flowers, nuts, toffee. Evolves smoothly toward dry by the end.
Medium-bodied with lots of carbonation. Some bready-softy chewiness, traces of stickiness. Wraps up quickly clean, cleansing, drying and refreshing.
A tasty version of an original American style, from a brewery I'm more used to finding at Nationals games—it's good to see them distributing nearer to me. Reasonably intense for the style and strength; appropriately, more straightforward than complex. Nicely poised and precisely balanced, graceful if maybe a bit linear.
