Tonight's beer: Victory XX Anniversary
Grassy-floral bitterness up front. Bready-caramel sweetness follows closely. Flickers of citrus and pine, toffee and nuts around the edges. Dries out gradually but pretty thoroughly, with a lingering bittersweet finish.
Kinda bready-thick and softly chewy, with some syrupy stickiness hanging on around the end. Wraps up mostly clean, eventually cleansing and drying. Some modest boozy prickle.
A delicious beer, more bocky than most I've had in the style (which is basically hopped-up maibock, as far as I'm concerned, so that's not all that dispositive). Intense and reasonably complex (some tendencies toward linearity, typical for the style), balanced and nicely integrated and immensely drinkable.
