Tonight's beer: Center of the Universe Pocahoptas
Opens steeply bitter: musky and floral up front; backing threads of pine and grass and citrus (lime and grapefruit). Thin layers of bready sweetness through the middle, hints of caramel; then the beer ricochets to severely dry in the face of re-emergent bitterness.
Medium-bodied, lightly carbonated; some bready chewiness, turns to thick resinous stickiness. Eventually cleans up and dries out, scrubbing and kinda refreshing.
A very, *very* nice IPA from a brewery with an awesome name and distribution where we can find it on the road between here and Georgia. Crazily intense and impressively complex and giddily unbalanced. Superbly well-integrated and amazingly drinkable. This is the second beer I've had from these folks; I'm impressed.
