Tonight's beer: Flying Dog Raging Bitch
Starts out austerely bitter: floral and musky up front, with pine and grass and a touch of citrus and tropical fruits blended in. Bread and caramel emerge around the middle with a touch of pine around the edges. Dries out quickly and thoroughly.
Medium-bodied, maybe a little thicker; nicely carbonate. Some resinous-syrupy stickiness, a dollop of bready chewiness. A long lingering finish, eventually cleansing and drying and impressively refreshing.
A superbly tasty Belgian-style IPA. Intense as hell and awesomely complex, nicely integrated if nothing much like balanced. Stupidly drinkable, with roughly no hint of the 83% ABV. Good beer (no shit) from a brewery that has taken Maryland into its heart since moving here a while ago.
