Tonight's beer: Heavy Seas Treasure Fest
Opens with a flash of grassy-floral bitterness, bready sweetness emerging right behind. Hints of caramel and toast, toffee and huts; a sprinkling of fruit—some dried, some citrussy. Vague hints of pine and earth in the distance.
Medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. Soft bready chewiness evolves to gentle stickiness. Gradually drying, pretty clean, very refreshing. Scrubbing and cleansing.
A very nice beer, distinctly hoppy compared to more run-of-the-mill Oktoberfest beers, but still recognizable as in the style. Intense and complex; nicely balanced, integrated, superbly drinkable. A winning beer from a local brewery I really like.
