Tonight's beer: Tröegs Hop Knife
Opens steeply bitter: pine and flowers, citrus (grapefruit, traces of lime and orange), hints of musk and tropical fruits and grass. Bready sweetness with caramel threads arises through the middle, then the beer shoves firmly dryward into and beyond a pretty quick finish.
Just on the light side of medium-bodied, plenty of fine carbonation. Powerfully drying, scrubbing, cleansing. Wraps up quickly refreshing.
A briskly tasty IPA, from one of my favorite breweries; one that's local enough to drive to. Intense and impressively complex, superbly well-integrated and about as much like balanced as the style allows. Massively drinkable. It's nice to see such a flavorful IPA at "only" 6.2% ABV.
