Tonight's beer:
Dark-fruity sweetness wrapped in deep chocolate, backed by bread and caramel and toast. Earthy-peaty-grassy bitterness on the perimeter. Distant impressions of burnt dark fruits. Slowly—almost grudgingly—drying into a very gradual, lingering finish. Maybe a touch of vanilla in the aftertaste.
Pretty thick, with a smattering of fine carbonation. Thick chewiness, slabs of syrupy stickiness; lingering slow dryness, roasty prickle. gradually drying. Remarkably little—as in practically zero—alcohol presence.
A stupendously awesome beer, big and crazily complex, brawny but graceful, intense, gloriously well-integrated. Clearly well-served by the time it's spent in the bottle. Drinkable as hell. I had high expectations for this beer, and it blew right on past them.
