Creature Comforts Tropicalia

Tonight's beer:

Creature Comforts Tropicalia

Opens with a wave of pulpy-juicy bitterness: musky melons and tropical fruits wrapped around grapefruit and oranges and limes; flashes of pine, flowers, grass around the edges. Distant pale-bready sweetness in the background. After that brief flicker, the beer dries out quickly, smoothly, and thoroughly.

Pulpy-juicy, medium-bodied, lots of lively carbonation. Lingering durably resinous-syrupy stickiness, gradually scrubbing, powerfully cleansing and drying.

This is about as good an IPA as I've had in quite some time: intense as hell and giddily complex, wonderfully well-integrated and drinkable. Poised and almost balanced—hop candy!—and graceful. I can easily see how Creature Comforts have come by their reputation.
