Tonight's beer:
Opens quite sweet—caramel, pumpkin, molasses, maple—heavily layered with baking spices: cloves and cinnamon and allspice and ginger. Toast and vanilla around the edges, bread in the structure. Earthy-peaty bitterness through a gradual finish, touches of grass, spice still a counterpoint; eventually gently dry.
A little thicker than medium-bodied, lightly but adequately carbonated. Soft bready chewiness transitions readily to syrupy stickiness. Struggles to edge toward drying, manages a little movement. Practically zero alcohol presence.
A potent and completely delicious big pumpkin beer, lots of flavor driven by a pretty sizable 10% ABV. Crazily intense, ludicrously complex; superbly well-integrated, supple and graceful, superbly drinkable in a Big Dessert Beer way. Subtly warming, filling and satisfying.
