Tonight's beer:
Opens kinda sweet, then grassy-earthy-floral bitterness rolls through and hangs around a while; hints of peat and smoke linger. The sweet gradually reasserts itself before a shallow slope toward dry by the finish.
Medium-bodied, decently carbonated. Some soft chewiness evolving toward syrupy stickiness. Slowly drying, eventually cleansing and refreshing. Nicely filling and satisfying.
A tasty and very drinkable beer, a kinda idiosyncratic winter seasonal. Impressively intense and pleasantly complex, balanced and poised and well-integrated. Subtle enough to be worth paying attention to. Heavy Seas is the biggest brewery anything like local to me, and I'm happy to buy their beers for any reason (or no reason) at all.
