Tonight's beer:
Coffee and hints of chocolate on top of pale bread and caramel, vanilla through the middle. Hints of toast, earth, peat around the edges. Coffee re-emerges at the finish as the beer dries out pretty quickly and thoroughly.
Pretty light-bodied, nicely carbonated, mostly smooth. Just a hint of soft chewiness becomes a trace of lingering stickiness. Wraps up pretty clean, cleansing and refreshing and drying.
A kinda weird beer, but a pleasant one—coffee in a pale beer makes for some cognitive dissonance. The coffee and the vanilla are strongly present but not exactly dominant or overpowering. Quite complex and pleasantly intense, pretty close to balanced, I think. Slickly drinkable. I'm happy to see this most-local-to-me brewery continuing to make beers according to their own occasionally odd inspiration.
