Tonight's beer:
Starts out almost imposingly bitter: mostly-grapefruity citrus, maybe some touches of orange and lime and lemon; pine alongside; flowers and grass around the edges. Pale-bready sweetness int eh background, dim possibilities of caramel. Wraps up acutely dry behind resurgent bitterness.
Maybe a little heavier and thicker than medium-bodied, lots of carbonation. Thin strands of resinous-syrupy stickiness break down and resolve to drying and eventually scrubbing; gradually refreshing. Very little alcohol presence.
It's been a long time since I've had this beer—it was a present from family this past Xmas. Nicely intense and briskly complex, well-integrated and scarily drinkable but really nothing like balanced (but that's to be expected given the style and that the beer is called Hop Stoopid). A really nice Double IPA from a brewery that does like to throw hops around.
