Sixpoint Global Warmer

Tonight's beer:

Sixpoint Global Warmer

Opens intensely bitter: floral and very fruity—citrus, melons, tropical fruits—with pine and musk and grass woven in. Juicy sweetness escorts caramel and bread through the middle, flickers of toast. Caroms almost immediately to sharply dry.

Pretty much medium-bodied, with lots of carbonation. Just a touch of chewiness, sheets of resinous-syrupy stickiness. Slides to pretty clean, wraps up cleansing and scrubbing and powerfully drying.

An impressively delicious beer, in the vein of an American (Red) IPA. Sixpoint are saying this is unfiltered now, but there's just a gentle glowing haze—no debris or detritus here. Distinctly intense and austerely complex, heavily tilted toward hoppy bitterness but poised and graceful. Amazingly drinkable. I thought I'd missed this, this year; I'm glad I didn't.
