Sixpoint Global Warmer

Tonight's beer:

Sixpoint Global Warmer

Starts out starkly bitter: pine and citrus (mostly grapefruit, threads of lime, lemon, orange) backed by flowers, tropical fruits, maybe melons and grass. Bready sweetness appears in the middle, with thin layers of caramel and toast. Bitterness rises again into a sloping dry finish.

A touch thicker than medium-bodied, decently carbonated. Some chewiness, thin sheets of resinous-syrupy stickiness; eventually manages some drying, then cleansing and impressively refreshing.

This is a superb beer, in a style (American Amber/Red, Red IPA, whatever) that I'm more than a little partial to. Astonishingly intense and complex, more balanced than a beer this focused on hop character has any right to be. Supple and graceful and dangerously drinkable. Sixpoint absolutely nailed this.
