Brewer's Art St. Festivus

Tonight's beer:

Brewer's Art St. Festivus

Starts out mainly sweet: caramel and toast on top of darkish bread, layers of molasses and dried fruits (figs, dates, maybe plums and cherries). Baking spice arises around the middle, cloves and cinnamon and coriander, alongside earthy-grassy-peaty bitterness. Grace notes of tobacco and vanilla. Edges toward dry through the finish.

Quite light-bodied for a biggish beer, nicely carbonated. Mostly clean with just a few traces of stickiness. Quickly and thoroughly drying and refreshing and cleansing. Basically no hint of alcohol.

A very tasty Belgian-style Xmas beer, I'm having it just a little late this year. Intense and really complex, gloriously balanced and well-integrated. Magnificently drinkable. A happily celebratory beer from a very local-to-me brewer.
