Tonight's beer:
Starts out fruit-juicy-sweet—bananas and citrus (mainly oranges, hints of limes). Bread and caramel around the edges. Grassy-floral bitterness in the background, threads of pepper and spice. Dries out quickly and thoroughly.
Pretty smooth, tending toward light-bodied, lots of big carbonation. Scrubbing and cleansing and drying and potently refreshing.
A local brewery teams up with someone kinda distant and makes real good. It's an ongoing theme with Heavy Seas' Partner Ships. Rye seems to be an unusual choice to put in the mash for a wit bier but this is a tasty beer. Intense and complex, nicely balanced, poised and integrated. Massively drinkable.
