Tonight's beer:
Toast and caramel on top of darkish bread, backed by vanilla, chocolate, coffee. Traces of wet-cardboardish typically porter twang through the middle. Earthy-peaty bitterness around the end, flickers of grass on the edges. Gradually dry past the finish.
Maybe a little thicker than medium-bodied, kinda lightly carbonated. Some thin stickiness, then slowly drying, eventually clean and surprisingly refreshing.
This is a nicely light-bodied porter, with vanilla woven in; not dominated by it, enhanced by it. Remarkably complex and intense for 4.7% ABV, poised and balanced and very well-integrated. Impressively drinkable. We picked up a few beers from these folks a bit ago, and both the beers we've had have been very, very nice.
