Tonight's beer:
Opens immensely bitter: musk and pine and tropical fruit and melons, backed by braided citrus (lime and grapefruit and orange) and grass and flower. Bread in the background, arising mostly through the middle, with caramel and maybe toast around the edges. Dries out quickly and thoroughly, bitterness lingering into the finish and beyond.
Just about medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. A it of chewiness evolves to sheets of syrupy stickiness. Pretty clean by the finish, powerfully cleansing and drying and refreshing.
This is—and has been for years—one of my most favorite beers on the planet. For practical purposes—measured by how much I buy and drink—it's my favorite hops-focuses beer, period. Madly intense, insanely complex; gloriously balanced and integrated. As drinkable as drinkable gets. Slurpable, even.
