Tonight's beer:
Dried/candied pale fruits: pears and apples, peaches and plums and white grapes. Bread and a touch of honey. Earth and grass, hints of earth and funk and cat's piss; a smattering of citrus and pine. Bright baking spice around the edges, hints of pepper. Wraps up potently dry on a wave of resurgent bitterness.
A bit light-bodied with lots of carbonation. Some smattery bready stickiness, quickly clean and cleansing. Scrubbing almost to the point of scouring. Smooth and a little slick, with basically no alcohol presence. Wraps up impressively refreshing.
One of the first beers I shared with my wife, back when we'd just started dating. While I remember more of a slowly-parting curtain of funk, this is still a magnificent beer. Stupefyingly complex and imposingly intense, poised and graceful and balanced and gloriously well-integrated. Awe-inspiringly drinkable. Fricking miraculous.
