Tonight's beer:
Grassy-floral bitterness to open, subdued pine and citrus in the background. Caramel and toast in the middle, on a solidly bready foundation. Bitterness reasserts itself on the finish, with citrus resolving to lime and grapefruit, and tropical fruits, melons, musk dancing around the edges.
A bit on the bready-thick and chewy side of medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. Pretty smooth, with ribbons of syrupy stickiness hanging around. Wraps up gently drying and impressively refreshing.
So—whoops—it turns out this beer is a little more than a year old, and the hops are kinda exhausted. Still, it holds together nicely, and it's reasonably intense and complex. Probably more (or differently) balanced than the brewers intended, pleasantly drinkable. I'd *really* like to try this fresh. Still, a plenty good beer.
