Tonight's beer:
Starts out searingly bitter: musk and flowers and melons and tropical fruits, with citrus (orange and lime and grapefruit), pin, grass right behind. Bready-caramelly sweetness blows through the middle, turning the beer to hops-candy; then the beer dries out quickly and pretty completely on a carpet of resurgent bitterness.
Medium-bodied or a little thicker, soft and chewy and smooth, decently carbonated. Loads of resinous-syrupy stickiness, eventually tends toward clean. Wraps up scrubbing, cleansing, surprisingly refreshing (with astonishingly little alcohol presence) for 10.5% ABV.
A superb, big Double IPA, tending toward the hops-candy end of the style spectrum. Gloriously unbalanced, but poised and amazingly well-integrated. Stupidly drinkable. A beer I am completely powerless to resist buying when I see it.
