Tonight's beer:
Chocolate and coffee, immediately backed by caramel and pumpkin and baking spice (cloves, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg). Toast and dark bread, toffee and nuts through the middle, then peaty-earthy-bitterness emerges into a gradually almost-dry finish.
A bit thicker than medium-bodied, carbonation somewhere between adequate and sparse. Thick bready chewiness, then sheets of syrupy stickiness. Slowly—almost reluctantly—drying, shuffling toward clean and maybe surprisingly refreshing. Basically zero alcohol presence.
A shockingly delicious beer, laden with pumpkins and spice; pretty well-dominated by them, in fact, but by no means a one-trick pony. Nicely integrated and poised and graceful. Stupefyingly drinkable, with the 10% ABV terrifyingly well-hidden.
