Tonight's beer:
Pretty sweet at the start: molasses and maple syrup drizzled on toasted bread; baking spies (cloves, allspice, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon) alongside, with vanilla strongly present. Earthy-peaty-grassy bitterness shuffles forward around the finish as the beer strides toward dry. Scattered hints of brandy, rum, and bourbon.
A little thicker than medium-bodied, smooth and chewy, carbonation a little on the light side but adequate. Some lingering syrupy stickiness. Softly cleansing, eventually drying, surprisingly refreshing.
A delicious Winter Warmer/Xmas Beer, from a brewery I don't have anywhere near enough access to. Worlds of complexity—the spicing here reminds me of a pumpkin beer, almost—with lots of intensity. Pretty nicely balanced, though the spices are a bit forward; nicely integrated. Drinkable as hell, subtle and graceful.
