Alewerks White

Tonight's beer:

Alewerks White

Bright citrus up front (oranges and lemons) in parallel with floral spice. Pale bread back half a step, with a dim impression of caramel. Pepper and earthy-grassy bitterness emerge toward the finish as the beer dries most of the way out.

Very light-bodied with lots of big round scrubbing carbonation. Pretty smooth through the middle, then cleansing and drying and immensely refreshing. Wraps up mostly clean.

A pretty spot-on witbier—a style I like plenty—from a brewery I don't get to anything like often enough. Reasonably intense given the moderate alcohol content, and nicely complex; wonderfully well-integrated, supple and subtle and graceful. Gloriously drinkable.
