Tonight's beer:
Molasses and maple syrup poured over toasted dark bread, sprinkled heavily with ginger, cloves, allspice, and cinnamon. Hints of vanilla and dark chocolate and coffee around the edges. Dim flickers of earthy-grassy-peaty bitterness in the distance as the beer gradually dries out a little.
Thick and chewy and very smooth, very well-carbonated. Lingering slabby sheets of syrupy stickiness. Slowly inches toward drying. Almost kinda refreshing. The 9.2% ABV is nowhere to be found.
A superb beer, just what the label promises. Pretty thoroughly dominated by the gingerbread but poised and graceful and wonderfully well-integrated. Intense as heck and imposingly complex. Gloriously drinkable. Every now and then I stumble on these folks' beers in my travels, and they're always worth buying.
