Tonight's beer:
Starts out with grassy-floral bitterness poised against molasses and maple dark sweetness. Toast and bread in the background, hints of citrus and pine. Bitterness resurgent into a slowly almost-dry finish. Flickers of vanilla around the edges.
Pretty much medium-bodied, well-carbonated. Some syrupy-resinous stickiness lingering. Softly drying, gradually clean and kinda cleansing, eventually surprisingly refreshing. The 9% ABV is *very* well-hidden.
Reading the description of this beer on the label, I was pretty sure it was going to be in the neighborhood of DFH's Indian Brown Ale, but bigger. Yup, that about covers it (but it sounded tasty, and it is). Intense as hell, bracingly complex; smooth and graceful and supple, impressively drinkable. I've been pleased with all of Heavy Seas' Partnerships beers, and this continues that trend.
