Tonight's beer:
Opens juicy-pulpy bittersweet: citrus (orange and lime and grapefruit) alongside melons and tropical fruits, layered with flowers and pine and grass; caramel and bready sweetness. Flecks of toast on the edges. Dries out quickly and completely around the end.
Around medium-bodied, nicely carbonated. Some bready chewiness then mostly clean and drying, with just a trace of syrupy-resinous stickiness. Wraps up scrubbing and cleansing and powerfully refreshing.
One of my favorite beers on this or any other planet, pretty much the reason I hold that amber/red ales (or Red IPAs if you prefer) are a better vehicle to showcase hops flavors than paler beers. This beer is incredibly intense and complex, balanced and gloriously well-integrated. Drinkable as hell, supple and graceful. Just yum.
