Tonight's beer:
Opens with a smooth crescendo of milk chocolate and molasses, with toast and dark bread as counterpoint. A hint of some dark dried fruit, then earthy-peaty bitterness arises, lingering long enough to herald a smoothly dry finish.
Medium-bodied or a little lighter, nicely carbonated. Pretty smooth, some short-lived threads of syrupy stickiness in the face of a drying and cleansing finish, quickly refreshing.
A very nice brown ale, definitely on the English side of things—all malty and smooth. Pretty intense for 5% ABV and reasonably complex. Subtle and graceful and gloriously drinkable. Convivial, perfect for drinking with friends or with straightforward comfort food. Something very much like a session beer, and worth the finding.
